Hmm…EL, have you written to D&G to let them know of your…um…outrage at this issue? Your aggression would probably be better served if directed at the source of the AD and not at the blogger, who happens to be a strong woman (as you seem to be based on the tone of your comment).

Back to the topic at hand: I too found the ad disturbing (and no, I’ve never been gang raped – God forbid) and am glad it was removed, but D&G aren’t the only ones. American Apparel, Calvin Klein, Diesel, etc, etc.. they all perpetrate these types of (p*rn-like) images, in the name of ‘fashion’, of course. *Sighs*…

As for your comment about the posting, I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your point of view. I don’t think anyone really cares or wants your pity for failing to see the severity of the image as seen by some through this D&G ad ! I think my self respect and my body image have nothing to do with these ads, or music videos or Hip-Hop or anything of the sort. It has to do with the fact that I was raised with values in a loving home, that I am a Christian woman loves God, that I am educated with a Degree in Anesthesia, a certificate in Beauty & Esthetics and currently completing a Bachelor’s in Communications & Public Relations. I respect everybody’s personal opinion, often disagree! But only through education can change come! Not with pity!
Yes the world we live in is messed up…but you know what.. It is the only world we have and instead of putting people’s views down, you can disagree and make them see things your way so they can understand where you are coming from and learn something new.

This ad, AD!!! is disgusting. Anyone who doesn’t think so has bought into the whole advertising crap that thin, gorgeous and willing to submit to male dominance is the way to be a real woman. I pity the stupidity of anyone who thinks this is sexy. Women deserve so much more.

I see ads like this and they turn my stomach. All we have fought for will be lost to the empty headed fools that think this is cool or sexy or “oh, there’s nothing wrong with this……….” God, the world is so fucked……Wake up women!!!!!!!!!!1
